Shielded control cable – reliability in automation and power systems

This shielded control / data transmission cable, designated YKSLYekw-P-Nr, is designed for use in energy-based control, protection and control systems, as well as for supplying electrical power. Its construction with twisted pairs minimizes mutual interference between signals, resulting in higher data transmission quality and system stability. This cable is particularly useful in environments exposed to electromagnetic interference, where transmission reliability is crucial.

The cable is characterized by flexibility and mechanical strength, which facilitates its installation and operation. It can be used in both fixed installations and movable connections inside buildings. The outer sheath made of PVC provides resistance to oils, expanding its range of applications.

Construction and design features

The YKSLYekw-P-Nr cable consists of six cores with a cross-section of 2.5 mm², twisted in pairs. Each core is made of soft copper wires (optionally tinned), which ensures good flexibility and easy routing of wires. Core insulation is made of insulating PVC, and the insulation colors comply with PN-92/T-90321 (IEC 60189-2) or black and brown with white printing of the pair number – in the YKSLYekw-P-Nr version. Twisted pairs are arranged in layers in the center of the cable, which is wrapped with a polyester tape for additional protection.

A common static screen made of laminated metal foil protects against external interference and prevents the emission of interference outside the cable. Under the screen there is an earthing conductor made of tinned copper wires. The whole is surrounded by a black PVC jacket, also available in other colors on request.

Special applications and modifications

TECHNOKABEL manufacturer offers special versions of the cable adapted to specific working conditions:

• "O" version (YKSLYekw-P-O): designed for operation in places of frequent contact with petroleum-based materials (e.g. petrol stations). The coating is made of a special PVC material resistant to oil action.

• "Yn" version (YnKSLYekw-P): with increased flame retardancy, meeting the PN-EN 60332-3 standard regarding the lack of flame propagation along a vertically installed cable bundle.

• "Yv" version (YvKSLYekw-P): with reinforced PVC coating, designed for outdoor installations and direct laying in the ground.
