Shielded Twisted Pair Control Cable – Reliability in Control and Power Systems
This flexible, shielded control and data transmission cable, designated as YKSLYekw-P-Nr (1) 0.6 / 1 kV, is designed for use in electrical control, protection, and automation systems. It performs reliably in both power-supply and signal-transmission applications. The twisted-pair construction minimizes mutual interference between signals, ensuring stable and precise data transmission.
The cable features high flexibility and mechanical durability, simplifying installation and guaranteeing long-term reliability. A common static shield effectively protects against electromagnetic interference—both externally induced and self-generated—enabling clean signal transmission without risk of interference.
Construction and Applications
The cable consists of 48 conductors, each with a cross-section of 0.75 mm², twisted into pairs for enhanced noise reduction. Conductors are made of soft copper strands, insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), colored according to PN-92/T-90321 (IEC 60189-2) standard for YKSLYekw-P cables, or black and brown with white pair-number printing for YKSLYekw-P-Nr versions. The cable core is wrapped in polyester tape and protected by a common static shield composed of a laminated metallic foil and a grounding conductor made of tinned copper wires. The outer sheath is made of black polyvinyl chloride (PVC), though other colors are available upon request.
These cables are suitable for both fixed installations and flexible connections within buildings. They exhibit resistance to oils, expanding their range of applications. Special variants are also available:
- YKSLYekw-P-O / YKSLYekw-P-Nr-O: Designed for environments exposed to hydrocarbon contact (e.g., fuel stations).
- YnKSLYekw-P / YnKSLYekw-P-Nr: Enhanced flame-retardant versions complying with PN-EN 60332-3 standard for non-propagation of flame.
- YvKSLYekw-P / YvKSLYekw-P-Nr: Reinforced sheath enabling outdoor installation and direct burial in soil.
Benefits for Installer and End User
- Noise Reduction: Twisted pairs and static shield minimize electromagnetic interference—critical for control and measurement systems.
- High Flexibility: Facilitates installation even in confined spaces and complex cable routes.
- Mechanical Durability: Ensures long-term reliability under demanding operating conditions.
- Chemical Resistance: Standard version resists oil exposure; the “O” variant additionally resists hydrocarbons—broadening application scope.
- Safety: Flame-retardant variants provide enhanced fire safety for installations.
- Versatility: Suitable for both fixed and flexible installations, indoors and outdoors (Yv version).
