Fire safety and protection against toxic gases

Halogen-free comb trunking differs from standard PVC trunking fundamentally in one aspect - its behavior during a fire. When polyvinyl chloride decomposes under high temperatures, it releases halogens (chlorine, fluorine), which, combined with water used for firefighting, create hydrochloric acid. This acid condenses on structural elements - it can even damage reinforcement steel and concrete.

The PC/ABS material used in the HA740100 trunking does not contain these substances. In the event of a fire, it significantly limits the emission of toxic and corrosive gases compared to PVC, which is important both for people near the distribution board or controller and for rescue teams.

This is confirmed by the UL94 V0 flammability class - after removing the flame source, the trunking extinguishes itself and does not propagate fire. The product also meets the M1 fire resistance class and has obtained EN 45545-2 (HL3) certification for use in railway rolling stock - one of the most stringent standards in this sector.

The operating temperature range from -25°C to +90°C allows for installation in extreme conditions where conventional PVC trunking might deform.

Construction and installation-friendly solutions

The 40 × 100 mm profile with a length of 2000 mm offers a useful cross-section of 2668 mm², allowing for the routing of dozens of wires with a cross-section of 1-2.5 mm² (exact quantities depend on the configuration). The closed lid stays securely in place even under full cable load.

The perforated base is manufactured according to the DIN 43659 / EN 50085-2-3 standard, which means precisely spaced holes for fixing with expansion rivets - the fastest and cheapest way to install this type of trunking.

The side walls have a grooved structure that allows for breaking out teeth without tools - it is enough to tear off a fragment manually or using pliers to obtain a smooth passage for wires changing direction or being introduced from the side (side perforation allows for the introduction of cables up to 6 mm²). The extended teeth of the lid mean that attaching and removing it does not require specialized tools.

Rounded edges of the strips protect cable insulation from abrasion and minimize the risk of hand cuts during installation.

Compliance with standards and ordering

The product is supplied as a complete set - base with lid - in light grey RAL 7035. It is made of PC/ABS plastic without halogen additives, which is confirmed by the REACH declaration of conformity (no SVHC substances) and the RoHS directive.

For fastening, nylon expansion rivets selected according to the hole diameter and mounting plate thickness are recommended; for breaking out side walls near the base - dedicated Hager pliers; for cutting to size - a guillotine or manual shears.
