Pre-insulated pipe for efficient hot water transport

The Uponor ECOFLEX Aqua Twin double pre-insulated pipe is a comprehensive solution for domestic hot water installations, especially in underground systems. The design with two pipes in one jacket minimizes heat loss and ensures hygienic medium transfer. The inner pipe made of durable cross-linked polyethylene (PE-Xa) guarantees long-term reliability, and the PE-X foam provides effective thermal insulation. The corrugated outer jacket made of HDPE provides mechanical protection and facilitates installation.

ECOFLEX Aqua Twin pipes are characterized by high flexibility, which makes it easier to run installations even in difficult conditions. They are designed to operate at a design temperature of 70°C, and short-term loads can reach 80°C. This makes them ideal for use in residential, commercial and industrial construction. Using pre-insulated pipes allows for a significant reduction in energy losses and lower operating costs of the system.

Construction and properties

ECOFLEX Aqua Twin pipes consist of several key elements:

• Inner pipe: Made of PE-Xa with a thickness of 6.9 mm and a diameter of 50 mm, it provides resistance to high pressure (up to 10 bar) and corrosion. This material is also resistant to the action of chemical substances present in drinking water.

• Insulation: PE-X foam with a thermal conductivity coefficient of 0.04 W/(m·K) minimizes heat loss, maintaining high energy efficiency of the installation.

• Outer jacket: Corrugated HDPE protects the pipes from mechanical damage and facilitates their laying in the ground.

• Two circuits: The double construction (inner pipe diameter 2: 25 mm, wall thickness: 3.5 mm) allows for the simultaneous transport of two independent medium streams, which increases the functionality of the system.

The minimum bending radius of the pipe is 1000 mm – it is worth considering this when designing the installation to avoid excessive stress on the material and ensure its long-term tightness. The pipes are supplied with sleeves, which facilitates and speeds up the assembly of connections.
