Specialist clamp with EPDM insert for the AS+ system

The specialist Wavin AS+ clamp with an EPDM insert is a key element of a modern internal drainage system with the highest acoustic protection parameters. The system utilizes a unique high-density material composition - polypropylene (PP) reinforced with minerals with the addition of a plastomer in the middle layer. This advanced three-layer construction ensures optimal acoustic insulation and excellent reduction of both airborne and structure-borne noise transmitted through the building structure.

Construction and technical parameters

The clamp is made of St 37 (1.0254) grade steel with a surface protective layer thickness of 12 µm, guaranteeing high mechanical resistance and operational durability. The product dimensions are 20 × 97 × 84 mm (width × depth × height), and the permissible load reaches 600 N.

A key element is the EPDM rubber insert with foam side walls, which minimizes the transmission of structural vibrations between the pipe and the building's structural elements. The mounting system based on a dual-bolt mounting allows for precise adjustment of the clamping force.

The clamp is adapted for pipes with an outer diameter of 50 mm (DN 50) with an external thread of M8/M10, ensuring mounting versatility in various types of installations.

Acoustic parameters and mounting possibilities

The system achieves exceptional acoustic parameters - according to the EN-14366 standard, the structure-borne noise level Lsc,A,dB(A) for a flow of 4 l/s is only 10 dB. The clamp can operate in two configurations: as a sliding or a fixed element. In a single configuration, a sound level of 12 dB(A) is achieved behind the wall at a flow rate of 2 l/s, while mounting in a double arrangement (fixed clamp above the sliding one) allows for levels below the 10 dB(A) threshold.

During installation, special spacer washers are used - a black fixed one and a yellow removable one - which ensure the correct clamping force and protect against excessive tightening that could degrade acoustic parameters.

Normative compliance and areas of application

The product meets the requirements of the German standard DIN 4109-5 2020-08 and VDI 4100 standards, confirming its suitability for the most demanding acoustic applications in residential and public utility construction.

The system maintains full functionality across a wide temperature range - resistance is 90°C in continuous flow and 95°C in intermittent flow, enabling safe operation even under intensive use of the drainage installation.

Thanks to its modular design, the AS+ system is available in a full range of diameters from dn 50 to dn 200mm, allowing for comprehensive acoustic solutions for entire residential or office buildings while maintaining consistent noise reduction parameters at all levels of the installation.
