What is a burglar alarm system used for?

Burglar alarm system or correctly - Burglary and Assault Alarm System (SSWiN) is a set of cooperating devices, the task of which is to detect movement and signal burglary attempts and deter potential burglars. Implementation of the alarm significantly increases the safety of people and property. Both large companies and home users currently use burglar alarms. After detecting a burglary attempt, the system immediately notifies the appropriate services (e.g. a hired security company), which allows immediate action to be taken to arrest the perpetrator.

Construction of a burglar alarm system

A burglar alarm system typically includes the following components:

alarm control panel,
motion, magnetic and vibration sensors,
sound signal,
GSM module,
additional accessories.

Sensors are placed in the most sensitive places in the rooms and outside the building. Their activation causes a suitably loud sound signal (alarm).

Types of alarm sensors

The following are used to detect movement in the monitored area:

passive infrared sensors (PIR) – they respond to changes in infrared radiation emitted by objects having a temperature higher than the ambient temperature;
microwave sensors - operate on the principle of Doppler radar, the microwave sensor sends an electromagnetic wave and receives a reflected wave;
ultrasonic sensors - use acoustic waves and respond to air movement, unfortunately they are prone to false alarms.

The following are designed to detect intrusions into rooms and activities:

inertial (vibration) sensors - respond to vibrations or shocks;
acoustic sensors - react to sounds.
