Burglar alarm systems - application
The Intruder and Hold-up Alarm System (ISAN), commonly known as the burglar alarm system, is a set of cooperating devices designed to protect people and property by:
- motion detection,
- notification of attempted burglary to the building owner and relevant services,
- deterring potential burglars.
The implementation of an alarm system significantly improves the safety of people and property. Burglar alarm systems are used in large companies and public utility buildings, as well as in private homes. After detecting an attempted break-in, the system will not only trigger a loud audible alarm, but will also notify the appropriate services, e.g. a hired security company, which in many cases ends with the successful arrest of the perpetrator.
Construction of a burglar alarm system
A standard burglar alarm system consists of:
- alarm control panel – this is the heart of the entire system, it receives signals from sensors and initiates appropriate actions;
- manipulator – the manipulator is a control device (e.g. keyboard, touch screen) that provides supervision over all sensors and camera images, allowing for quick arming/disarming of the system;
- motion sensors (infrared, magnetic and vibration) - sensors are connected in the most sensitive places inside and outside the building, and their activation triggers an alarm;
- battery – used to power the emergency alarm system during power outages (during a burglary, perpetrators often first cut off the electricity);
- sounder;
- GSM module – the GSM module, supported by a dedicated mobile application, allows you to conveniently manage the alarm system from a smartphone;
- additional accessories.
Wireless Alarms vs. Wired Systems – Which Solution to Choose?
Wireless burglar alarms use radio communication. They are relatively expensive, but much easier to install because they do not require wiring, which allows you to avoid expensive and laborious renovations. They can be susceptible to interference. Wired burglar alarms are based on devices connected to each other by cables, which requires the installation to be brought to the installation locations.
