Tight septic tanks – proper storage of sewage
Not all buildings have access to a general sewage system. In this case, one of the elements without which proper waste disposal would be impossible is a cesspool.
A cesspool is a sealed tank placed underground. It is used to store sanitary, domestic, municipal, and rainwater sewage.
The most common tanks are concrete and plastic.
Concrete septic tank or sealed plastic septic tank?
For a long time, the most popular solution was concrete septic tanks. Their large mass means that they settle quickly in the ground and can be safely used even in wet areas. Unfortunately, their weight can cause problems during transport and installation.
Recently, plastic septic tanks have become increasingly popular. They are much easier to transport than concrete tanks, and they are just as functional. Installing a septic tank is not difficult. However, caution should be exercised in the case of wetlands - plastic septic tanks can be pushed to the surface by groundwater.
How much does a concrete septic tank cost and how much does a plastic septic tank cost?
The most commonly used concrete septic tanks cost around PLN 3,000. Prices for plastic tanks range from PLN 5,000 to PLN 6,000.
How to choose a septic tank?
A high-quality concrete septic tank prevents the contents of the septic tank from leaking into the soil and at the same time protects the environment from contamination.
The same should apply to polyester tanks. For this reason, you should choose septic tanks made of durable, damage-resistant materials that have the necessary approvals and certificates.
Before choosing a specific option, decide what size septic tank you need. The rule is quite simple – the larger the tank, the less often you will have to empty it.
Adjust the tank capacity to your needs. It is estimated that one person produces from 100 to even 200 liters of sewage per day. Assuming that the septic tank should hold about two weeks of sewage, calculate the desired tank capacity. During the calculations, you will also need information on the capacity of sewage trucks that you have access to in your area.
The most commonly chosen septic tanks have a capacity of 8 to 12 m3.
