Sodium lamps
(21 )
Sodium lamps are models in which light is generated by electric discharges that occur in sodium vapor. Valued for their numerous advantages. Onninen offers various versions of sodium lamps, in different shapes and power. Check out our offer and choose a model tailored to your needs.
Types of sodium lamps
In practice, there are two types of sodium lamps. The first, high-pressure lamps marked as HPS, are characterized by high light efficiency. A big advantage is the long life of such bulbs, which emit yellow-orange light. They can be used in various conditions, they are resistant to low temperatures. They are most often used for lamps responsible for street lighting, as well as in parking lots, warehouses, or industrial halls.
The second variant is low-pressure bulbs, designated as LPS. This variant emits yellow light, but its spectrum is narrow. This feature makes the efficiency of color reproduction lower, but a big advantage is the long operating time and high efficiency. This type of bulb can be used in places where the precision of color reproduction is not as important, such as on motorways or bridges.
Why choose sodium lamps?
Using sodium bulbs has many advantages. One of the most important features is high energy efficiency, it is worth emphasizing that it is one of the most efficient light sources currently used.
Sodium bulbs are very resistant to atmospheric conditions, including low temperatures. They usually need a few minutes to reach full exposure.
How does a sodium lamp work?
A characteristic feature of sodium lamps is that they operate as a result of electrical discharges occurring inside the bulb, which are created in the gas inside. Depending on the variant - low-pressure or high-pressure - low or high pressure is used to generate light, causing the intensification of light of different intensity. This technique makes them highly energy-efficient solutions with a long service life and efficiency of operation.
Application of sodium lamps
Due to their high efficiency and high energy efficiency, sodium lamps are widely used in many areas and industries, from road and street lighting to specialist lighting for production halls and warehouses, tunnels, car parks, etc. Depending on the location, sodium bulbs are designed for installation in closed or open luminaires. Some of the models available in the offer, if they are to be installed outside, require the use of a properly selected luminaire, so if you have any doubts, be sure to contact our advisor.
How to choose the power of the light source in sodium lamps?
Onninen offers sodium lamps with power of 50 W, 70 W, 100 W, 150 W, 250 W, 400 W, 60 W and 1000 W. The power should be selected depending on the purpose and variant. It should be remembered that high-pressure lamps are characterized by higher power and a large power range, while in the case of low-pressure lamps the power is definitely lower.
The luminous flux, or the amount of light emitted, depends on the power variant. The key issue in choosing the right lamp power is the intensity of lighting. The higher the power, the greater the luminous efficiency.
