One of the most common causes of water pump failure is dry running, i.e. running dry, without liquid. This leads to loss of cooling, increased friction and overheating, and ultimately even to complete seizure. How to extend the life of the pump and protect it from damage?

What is dry running and what are its consequences?
Dry running is destructive to both deep well and submersible pumps. This phenomenon can have various causes, including a drop in liquid level, mounting the pump too close to the water surface, or not adjusting the pump parameters to the requirements of a given well . Not all factors can be predicted and therefore it is difficult to prevent them, but there are ways to protect the pump from working in conditions that are harmful to it.
How to avoid dry running?
The solution is the liquid level control relays offered by F&F Filipowski . Sensors are placed in the well, which allows to control the minimum and maximum water level and switch off the pump if the level drops below the value required for safe operation of the device . When the water level in the well rises, the pump is automatically switched back on. The range of optimal levels is set by the user himself using special sensitivity regulators.
Fluid level control relays at Onninen wholesaler
The offer includes several models of relays that can be purchased at the Onninen wholesaler. Which one to choose? The descriptions of the individual products will help you make the right choice.
Liquid level control relay PZ-828 RC
The simplest in our list is the PZ-828 RC liquid level control relay . This is a single-state model used to detect the presence of liquid at the level of the flood sensor (probe). It can therefore be used not so much to operate the pump and protect it from seizing, but to warn against a rising water level, i.e. against flooding . It will work well, for example, in a laundry room, detecting a leak, while simultaneously switching off electrical circuits or switching on an alarm signal. The probe can be mounted on a horizontal surface.
Liquid level control relay PZ-829 RC two-state
This relay is a two-state PZ-829 RC two-state liquid level control relay . Two-state, i.e. it has two flood probes, separate for minimum and maximum levels. The range is set by the user, and the sensors control the pump on and off, maintaining the liquid level at the specified level . The measurement principle is based on the conductivity of the electric current, therefore the relay is only suitable for liquids that conduct electricity.
Liquid level control relay with probes PZ-832
The PZ-832 liquid level control relay with probes is basically similar to the model above, but it is additionally equipped with an overflow and empty tank alarm . The pump of course switches off and starts again automatically - the signal is purely informative. There are certainly situations in which it is good to know that the liquid level has dropped below the minimum and the pump has stopped or there has been an overflow.
Liquid level control relay PZ-831 RC, three independent control levels
Liquid level control relay PZ-831 RC, three independent control levels is a relay with three independent control levels. This adds precision and reliability, so this model is especially recommended for demanding applications , i.e. those where the continuity of pump operation is of particular importance.
Pump seizure due to dry running is no longer a problem. Thanks to liquid level control relays, you can easily monitor, for example, the water level in a well, and in the event of a drop in pressure, the worst that can happen is a drop in pressure, while the pump itself is protected . It is worth opting for such a solution to sleep soundly with one less problem on your mind.
