Overcurrent switch – reliable protection of electrical installations
This single-pole overcurrent switch, with C characteristic and a rated current of 40A, is a key element ensuring safety in every electrical installation. Designed to protect against the effects of overloads and short circuits, it performs well in both residential and commercial buildings. Its compact size (1 module width) makes it easy to install in distribution boards.
Functionality and technical parameters
The switch is characterized by a high short-circuit breaking capacity – 6kA at 230V and 10kA at 400V, which guarantees effective circuit protection. Characteristic C means delayed tripping during short-term overloads, which is particularly important for devices with motors or other elements generating high inrush currents. The rated impulse withstand voltage of 4kV provides additional safety in the event of overvoltage.
The switch is designed to operate at temperatures from -25°C to 55°C and has a protection degree of IP20, which means protection against contact with fingers and solid objects larger than 12mm. The possibility of connecting wires with a cross-section from 0.75 mm² to 25 mm² (multi-strand) and from 0.75 mm² to 35 mm² (single-strand) provides flexibility during installation. The energy limitation class is 3, which demonstrates its effectiveness in mitigating the effects of short circuits.
Installation and application
Installation is done on a standard TH35 rail. This switch is used in lighting circuits, socket circuits and in protecting electrical devices requiring protection against overloads and short circuits. It is compatible with TN and IT systems. Thanks to its reliability and compliance with EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2 standards, it is a solid element of every electrical installation.
