Compact circuit breaker 3-pole Tmax T5N 630 PR221DS-LS/I In=630 3p F F 1SDA054396R1
Protection of high-current circuits
This device is a three-pole compact circuit breaker from the Tmax T5 series, designed for operation in circuits with a rated continuous current up to 630 A. Its primary function is to protect installations and loads against overloads and short circuits in low-voltage systems where high reliability and precise adjustment of protective parameters are required. Thanks to the use of the PR221DS-LS/I electronic trip unit, this model offers significantly greater flexibility than traditional thermal devices, allowing the tripping characteristic to be adapted to the specifics of the protected circuit.
This trip unit allows precise adjustment of the overload protection range from 252 A to the full 630 A, which is crucial when selecting protection for a specific cable cross-section or motor power. In the event of short circuits, the device reacts in two modes: delayed (for lower magnitude short circuits) with a setting from 630 A to 5985 A, and instantaneous (I), ensuring selectivity of operation in complex distribution networks. Such a design minimizes the risk of unnecessary tripping of the entire system in the event of a failure of only one load.
Application and mounting options
This model is intended for fixed mounting ("Fixed" version) in industrial and commercial switchboards, where safety and easy access to contacts are priorities. The main circuit terminals are located at the front of the device, facilitating cable connection and reducing installation time for the installer. The device does not have a built-in motor drive as standard, but the design allows for optional connection of a remote drive, opening the way for automation of switching processes in SCADA or BMS systems.
The IP20 degree of protection means that the device must be mounted inside a switchboard enclosure – contacts are accessible only from the front, while the rest of the housing protects against accidental contact with live parts. The rated operating voltage is 690 V AC, making it a universal solution for industrial installations with higher operating voltages. It is worth noting that the device does not have integrated earth fault protection or an undervoltage trip unit – these functions can be added as external modules if needed.
Key operational parameters and resistance
The circuit breaker is characterized by a high short-circuit switching capacity – it is 36 kA at 400 V AC. This means it can easily handle short-circuit currents occurring in typical industrial installations without risk of damage to contacts or the housing. At a higher voltage (690 V), this capacity drops to 20 kA, which should be taken into account when designing circuits with very high operating voltages. Power losses at the level of 41 W indicate an efficient internal conductor design, although with such high currents, adequate ventilation in the switchboard cabinet should be ensured.
The device's durability has been verified by the manufacturer – mechanical resistance to operating cycles reaches 20,000 times without current load, while electrical life at full load is approximately 5,000 switching cycles. The housing is made of a material resistant to high temperatures and electric arcs, guaranteeing stable operation in the harsh environmental conditions of industrial switchboards. All key technical data have already been included in the paragraphs above: the rated continuous current is 630 A for three poles, and the trip unit adjustment ranges cover the needs of both overload protection (from 252 A) and short-circuit protection (up to almost 6 kA). The operating voltage set at 690 V AC and the IP20 degree of protection define the appropriate application area for this model as a component of a fixed distribution installation.
