Lightning protection mast on a concrete foundation – protection of objects with high risk

This lightning protection mast, designed for mounting on a concrete foundation, is an effective solution for protecting buildings and installations exposed to lightning strikes. A height of 9000 mm provides a wide protection zone, ideal for objects with increased risk, where effective discharge of atmospheric discharges is crucial. The construction combines the strength of hot-dip galvanized steel with the solidity of a concrete foundation, guaranteeing long-lasting and reliable protection.

Construction and application

The mast consists of a hot-dip galvanized steel element and a massive concrete foundation with dimensions of 300x300x1500mm and a weight of 170kg. The foundation provides stability and optimal grounding, and the hot-dip galvanized steel protects against corrosion, even in harsh weather conditions. The mast is designed to create extensive protection zones for single or groups of high objects, where protection class I is required.

Strength and safety

The mast structure has been calculated in terms of Ultimate Limit States, taking into account a safety factor of 1.4. This means that the mast can withstand strong wind loads up to 10°(B), which confirms its high resistance to weather conditions and ensures safe operation. Therefore, it meets the requirements for lightning protection class I – the highest category of protection against the effects of atmospheric discharges. This is not only protection against a direct lightning strike, but also minimizing the risk of secondary damage caused by surges.
