Reducing nipple connector, copper, for medical gases 10-8 MG5243 0100800
Intended Use and Application in Medical Installations
This reducing connector is a key component in the construction and modernization of medical gas installations, such as oxygen, nitrogen, medical air, or carbon dioxide. Its primary function is to safely connect pipes of different diameters – in this specific case, transitioning from a pipe with an outer diameter of 10 mm to a pipe of 8 mm. Thanks to the use of high-purity copper (Cu-DHP), this component meets the rigorous requirements imposed by hospital and laboratory environments.
It is worth noting the material specifics: the copper has been degreased and cleaned prior to packaging, eliminating the risk of contaminating the flowing gas. This is particularly critical in systems where even trace amounts of hydrocarbons can disrupt the operation of precision medical equipment. The product is dedicated to installation in vacuum systems and devices requiring stable flow of technical gases.
Construction, Material, and Installation Principles
The fitting is made of Cu-DHP copper with 99.99% purity, in accordance with standard PN-EN 1254. This material selection guarantees not only corrosion resistance but, above all, high ductility essential during soldering. The component has the shape of a simple nipple (reducer), facilitating its integration into tight spaces within gas manifolds.
Installation is performed using capillary soldering – both soft and hard soldering. For medical gas installations, it is recommended to use solders containing at least 2% silver, ensuring leak-tightness of the joint under pressure and resistance to temperature fluctuations. In practice, this means using appropriate soldering materials to connect pipes with diameters of 10 mm and 8 mm, allowing for a durable and leak-tight circuit without additional mechanical seals.
Since the connector is a product dedicated to gas applications, its surface must be perfectly clean. During the production process, each component is individually packaged, protecting it from dust and grease until the moment of installation on-site. This means the installer does not need to perform additional, time-consuming cleaning procedures before soldering – standard preparation of pipe ends is sufficient.
Compliance with Standards and Operational Safety
Safety in gas installations depends on the compliance of components with applicable regulations. This connector has been manufactured in accordance with standards PN-EN 12735-1 and PN-EN 13348, which regulate requirements for gas installations in public buildings and medical facilities. The hydrocarbon content on the material surface is controlled and remains below 100 mg/m², which is a key requirement for breathable gases (e.g., oxygen).
The product is suitable for joining all types of copper pipes meeting standard PN-EN 1057. This allows its free application in various installation configurations, regardless of the manufacturer of the main pipes (provided appropriate diameters are maintained). In practice, this means that this connector will not only physically join two pipes of different diameters but will also ensure the durability of the connection throughout the entire operational period of hospital or laboratory installations. Its simple design minimizes the number of potential failure points, while the high quality of the material eliminates the risk of internal corrosion within the gas system.
