Reducing connector, nipple, copper, for medical gases 16-14 MG5243 0161400

Intended Use and Application in Medical Installations

This reducing connector, manufactured from Cu-DHP copper with 99.99% purity, is specifically designed for medical gas distribution systems. Its primary function is to safely connect pipes of different diameters – in this case, transitioning from 16 mm to 14 mm – while maintaining the tightness required for media such as oxygen, nitrogen, helium, carbon dioxide, and medical air. Thanks to the use of phosphorus-deoxidized material, the fitting minimizes the risk of internal corrosion and ensures stable gas flow over extended operational periods.

Special attention should be paid to the product's preparation specifics: each component is factory-cleaned and degreased, which is crucial during installation where the presence of contaminants could interfere with the operation of medical devices or contaminate the gas. Individual packaging further protects the surface from mechanical damage prior to installation.

Construction and Installation Principles

The fitting features a simple reducing nipple design, facilitating its integration into complex piping systems. Both sides of the connector are equipped with capillary soldering (push-fit) sockets, enabling permanent connection with copper pipes complying with the PN-EN 1057 standard.

The joining process requires appropriate technique: soft or hard soldering is permissible; however, for gas installations, the use of solders containing at least 2% silver (hard soldering) is recommended. The product precisely adapts a pipe with an outer diameter of 16 mm to a pipe with a diameter of 14 mm, eliminating the need for additional adapters. Due to the degreasing process, no additional cleaning is required before soldering, which accelerates the installer's work and reduces the risk of human error.

Key construction features of this model include its simple reducing shape and the material used – Cu-DHP copper (99.99%) – which guarantees high corrosion resistance. The entire product has been manufactured in accordance with PN-EN 1254 and PN-EN 1057 standards, confirming its suitability for demanding medical environments.

Compliance with Standards and Operating Conditions

The product meets the rigorous requirements imposed on gas installations in medical facilities. In accordance with PN-EN 12735-1 and PN-EN 13348 standards, these fittings are intended for use in vacuum systems and for the distribution of technical and medical gases. The low hydrocarbon level (below 100 mg/m²) on the internal surface ensures no chemical reactions with the transported media.

Thanks to the properties of Cu-DHP copper and the bronze used in production (depending on the specific series version), the connector exhibits high resistance to varying pressure and temperature conditions encountered in hospital or laboratory installations. This is a universal solution – it is suitable both for installing new gas lines and during the modernization of existing systems for component exchange between different pipe diameters.
