Drilling in reinforced concrete without water cooling

RM-TX core bits are tools designed for heavy-duty drilling tasks performed in dry mode. Their design, based on diamond segments with oriented diamonds and a turbo-shaped segment profile, allows for effective and fast drilling of through-holes for cables and pipes in concrete walls – including heavily reinforced concrete. The lack of a need for water cooling means that work can be carried out where water access is limited or its use is undesirable.

Construction and diamond segments

The working segments are made of high-quality synthetic diamond with an oriented crystalline structure. The orientation of the diamond grains in the direction of processing ensures that each grain works more efficiently – the harder surface contacts the cut material at an optimal angle, resulting in higher drilling speeds and lower tool wear. The turbo-shaped segment profile further assists in removing debris from the hole, preventing it from compacting between the segments. An efficient metal bond holds the diamonds in place throughout the entire work cycle, even under high impact loads.

The 1¼ UNC threaded shank allows for mounting the core bit in standard drilling chucks used in handheld micro-impact drills. The core bit with a diameter of 82 mm and a working length of 300 mm allows for drilling through-holes of significant depth without the need to interrupt work.

Application and compatibility

The RM-TX core bit performs well in both unreinforced and reinforced concrete – reinforcing steel does not pose an obstacle to the diamond segments, provided the drill has sufficient impact power. The tool is adapted for dry work, which eliminates the problem of splashed water and mud around the hole. This allows operators to work precisely on electrical and sanitary installations without the risk of damaging finished surfaces.

The drill bit is compatible with handheld rotary hammers equipped with a 1¼ UNC chuck. Before purchase, ensure that the drill parameters – especially impact energy and rotational speed – are sufficient for effective work with an 82 mm diameter in reinforced concrete.

RM-TX Series - diameter selection

The series includes a wide range of diameters – from 42 mm up to 152 mm – allowing for the selection of a core bit for a specific installation: from single electrical wires to larger diameter sewage pipes. All core bits have the same working length of 300 mm and the same 1¼ UNC shank type, enabling the crew to operate with a single type of mounting across the entire construction site or during a single project.
