Surge protective device ESPAC V T12 12,5/275 4+0 10400120080
Protection against atmospheric surges
The ESPAC V T12 surge arrester in the four-pole version (4+0) is a Type 1+2 class device that effectively protects electrical installations from the effects of atmospheric discharges - both direct and indirect. An impulse current of 12,5 kA (10/350 µs pulse) and a rated discharge current of 30 kA (8/20 µs) allow it to handle energy generated by lightning in buildings of LPL class III and IV.
The construction based on varistors guarantees a fast response time - only 25 ns - which means that even very steep voltage fronts are dampened before they reach the protected installation. The highest continuous operating voltage of 275 V AC provides a safety margin at a nominal network voltage of 230 V. The voltage protection level Up = 1,5 kV effectively limits surges to values safe for the connected receivers.
Compatibility with power grid systems
The device operates in TN-S and TN-C-S network systems, which are configurations found in most residential, office, and industrial buildings powered from medium-voltage transformers. The width of the device is 4 modules on a TH-35 mm rail (72 mm), allowing for installation in standard panelboards.
Modular design and status signaling
The modules are replaceable - in case of wear or operation, it is sufficient to replace a specific module rather than the entire device. This is a significant advantage during both operation and maintenance. On the front of the device, there is an optical indicator: green indicates the device is functional, while red informs of the need to replace the module.
The installation can be performed in two positions on the TH35 rail - a useful solution when space in the distribution board is limited. The connection terminals accommodate single-core and multi-core wires with a cross-section of up to 35 mm² and flexible cables up to 25 mm². Power terminals can accept wires or busbars - both fork and pin types.
Standard, operating conditions and manufacturer
The arrester meets the requirements of the PN-EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11 standards, confirming its compliance with European safety standards for surge protection devices. The operating and storage temperature range is from −40 °C to +80 °C, and the allowable relative humidity is in the range of 5-95%, making the device suitable for various environmental conditions inside buildings.
The enclosure protection rating is IP20, which means a closed enclosure protecting against finger contact and solid foreign bodies >12.5 mm - typical for devices mounted inside electrical distribution boards. The short-circuit strength reaches 50 kA, and the short-circuit protection is 160 A gL/gG.
The manufacturer - ELKO-BIS Systemy Odgromowe from Wrocław - has over 27 years of experience in designing and manufacturing lightning protection systems, and provides a five-year warranty on its products, confirmed by compliance tests with applicable standards.
