LPC Capacitors – Effective Reactive Power Compensation
LPC capacitors are reliable and proven devices designed for reactive power compensation in electrical installations. They are used both for individual compensation of inductive loads, such as transformers, electric motors, rectifiers, and fluorescent lamps, as well as in automatic capacitor bank systems. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and advanced construction, LPC capacitors provide long-lasting and efficient operation.
Construction and characteristic features
LPC capacitors with an internal connection in a ∆ configuration are manufactured with a low-loss, self-healing metallized polypropylene film. This is crucial for minimizing energy losses and ensuring the long service life of the device. Dry-type capacitors are filled with an environmentally friendly and non-toxic polypropylene resin, which provides excellent heat dissipation properties – important for stable operation in various environmental conditions. The whole is enclosed in aluminum containers equipped with overpressure disconnectors, which provide additional protection against failures. Two types of connections are available: connector (faston) for capacitors up to 5 kVAr and screw terminals for higher powers.

Discharge resistors reduce the voltage at the terminals to a safe level of 75V within a maximum of 3 minutes after disconnection from the power supply – in accordance with PN-EN-61048, PN-EN-60252 and EN-60831-1/2 standards.
- Easy installation: Capacitors can be mounted both vertically and horizontally (horizontal mounting requires additional support). The lower screw provides grounding of the housing and the possibility of securing the capacitor.
Technical specifications
This LPC capacitor model with a power of 3 kVAr and a rated voltage of 440V/50Hz is characterized by a diameter of 60 mm and a length of 210 mm. It has a rated capacitance of 16.4 µF and a rated current of 3.9 A. It is equipped with connector (faston) connections, which facilitates connection to the electrical installation. It can operate in a temperature range from -25°C to +55°C, and the permissible harmonic distortion of voltage and current is 2% and 25%, respectively.
