This modular surge protector is a key element in protecting electrical installations from the effects of lightning strikes and other surges. Designed by ETI POLAM, the CM T23 275/20 3+1 RC model offers comprehensive protection for both installers and end-users. The device is designed for mounting on a TH-35 mm DIN rail and occupies 2 modules, making it easy to integrate with existing switchboards.

Functionality and application

This surge protector belongs to class T2, which means it provides indirect protection against surges. It is intended for use in TN, TN-S and TT network systems. Its task is to minimize the risk of damage to electrical and electronic equipment, as well as to prevent fires caused by surges. It has a remote signaling contact that informs about the operation of the device - optical signaling facilitates quick identification of the problem. The rated discharge current at 20 kA (peak value 8/20 µs) and the maximum discharge current of 40 kA guarantee effective protection even in the event of strong discharges.

Safety and technical parameters

The surge protector is based on varistor technology, providing a fast response to surges. The protection level of 1.5 kV (L-N and N-PE) effectively limits the voltage to a safe level. The device has a protection degree of IP20, which means protection against touching with fingers and foreign objects with a diameter of more than 12.5 mm. The maximum cross-section of solid/stranded wires is 10 mm², and flexible wires – 6 mm², ensuring compatibility with most installation wiring. The short-circuit strength (Isccr) is 25 kA, which confirms its reliability in emergency conditions. Additionally, the lack of integrated backup protection allows for flexible adaptation to the specifics of the installation.
