This surge arrester of class T1 and T2, designed specifically for photovoltaic systems, provides comprehensive protection against the effects of lightning strikes and overvoltages in the grid. The device effectively minimizes the risk of damage to sensitive components of the PV installation, such as inverters, solar panels, and cabling. Mounting on a TH-35 mm DIN rail simplifies integration with existing electrical infrastructure.

Construction and operating parameters

The ETITEC M T12 PV surge arrester is characterized by a modular design – it occupies 5 modules in the electrical cabinet. Made of high-quality materials, it guarantees reliable operation even in harsh environmental conditions (IP20 protection degree). Adapted to operate with DC voltage up to 1100V, it is compatible with most photovoltaic installations available on the market. The maximum wire cross-section of up to 35 mm² (single-/multi-stranded) and 25 mm² (flexible) provides connection flexibility.

Safety and signaling

The surge arrester has a built-in signaling contact with an optical indication of the operating status. This allows for quick identification of a situation where the device has intervened and the need to replace the insert. The protection level of 3.8 kV for both DC + - DC- and DC + / DC - - PE provides effective protection against differential and common mode surges. The specific energy at a level of 6.25 kJ/Ohm guarantees effective absorption of impact energy with a value of 10 kA (10/350 µs). Thanks to this, the surge arrester protects not only against direct damage but also against the degradation of photovoltaic installation components in the long term.
