Bistable relay for intelligent lighting control

The BIS-411M bistable relay is an advanced solution for controlling lighting and other electrical devices from multiple points. Functionality and application

The BIS-411M relay allows control via pulses generated by momentary (bell) buttons. This makes it easy to create a system for turning lights on and off from different locations, without the need for traditional stairwell or cross switches. This is particularly useful in hallways, stairs, bedrooms or large rooms where access to a single switch would be inconvenient. The BIS-411M model with contact position memory is particularly recommended where maintaining the last state of the device after a power interruption is important.

The BIS-411M relay is designed to operate at 230V AC and a maximum current of 16A. Its versatility allows it to control various types of loads – from traditional incandescent bulbs, through compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), to modern LED lighting. The width of the relay, 1 module (18 mm), provides compact dimensions and easy mounting on a standard 35 mm DIN rail. Additionally, the ability to cooperate with backlit buttons increases comfort, especially in poorly lit rooms. The control pulse current should exceed 5mA for proper operation with backlit buttons.

Worth knowing: A bistable relay differs from a traditional relay in that it only needs a short pulse to change state – it does not require continuously holding the button down. This translates to greater convenience and energy savings.
