Smart lighting with laser distance sensor DRL-12

DRL-12 is an advanced laser distance sensor, utilizing Time of Flight (ToF) technology for precise motion detection and automatic lighting control. Ideal for corridors, stairwells and other spaces where comfort and energy saving are a priority. The sensor is characterized by its small size and the possibility of mounting in a standard flush-mount box with a diameter of 35 mm.

Functionality and application

The DRL-12 sensor emits a laser light beam and measures the time it takes to return after reflection from an obstacle, allowing for an accurate determination of distance. This enables precise lighting control – the light turns on only when a person or object is within the sensor's range. Particularly useful on stairs, where it ignores movement outside the stair area, eliminating unnecessary light switching. Adjustable detection range (0.1 – 2 m) allows the sensor to be adapted to specific conditions and needs. Additionally, a built-in brightness sensor prevents the lighting from turning on during the day, which translates into energy savings.

User comfort and parameter adjustment

DRL-12 offers a wide range of configuration options, adapting the operation to individual preferences. Adjustment of the light hold time (0 – 10 minutes) allows you to set the optimal lighting time after motion detection. The softstart function (smooth on and off) provides comfort for the eyes and extends the life of the bulbs. The sensor activation threshold (2 – 500 lx) allows you to adjust the sensitivity to the prevailing lighting conditions. This gives the user full control over the operation of the lighting system.
