The DR-05B motion sensor is a practical solution for automating lighting inside and outside buildings. Surface-mounted, it is ideal for places such as corridors, yards, house approaches, garages or stairs. Its task is to automatically turn on the light after detecting movement, which increases comfort and improves safety.

Functionality and application

This sensor uses passive infrared (PIR) detection technology, which means it reacts to temperature changes in the environment caused by moving objects. This ensures reliable operation in various conditions. A wide detection angle – from 140 to 180 degrees horizontally – and adjustable range up to 12 meters allow you to adapt the sensor to the specifics of a given area. The ability to monitor stairwells is an additional advantage.

The DR-05B sensor is designed to work with a load of up to 600W (for resistive loads) or 1000W (specified in general parameters), with a maximum switching current of 5A. The minimum switching time is 8 seconds, and the maximum is 10 minutes, allowing you to adjust the lighting time to your needs. Forced shutdown provides additional safety and energy savings.

Construction and technical parameters

The sensor housing made of durable thermoplastic provides resistance to weather conditions (IP44 protection class). The black color of the housing makes the sensor discreetly blend into the environment. Surface mounting is simple and quick, requiring only two screws to the substrate. The device operates at 230V AC and a frequency of 50 Hz. The use of halogen-free materials increases safety.

The supply voltage is 230V AC, and the maximum detection range is 12 meters. The detection angle in the horizontal plane is from 140 to 180 degrees, and the degree of protection is IP44. The sensor allows you to connect a load of up to 600W (for resistive loads) or 1000W (generally). The minimum switching time is 8 seconds, and the maximum – 10 minutes. The operating temperature is in the range of -20°C to +40°C.

Let's remember that the efficiency of the sensor may be reduced if the temperature of the detected object is close to the ambient temperature or if the object moves very slowly directly towards the sensor. Light sources can also affect its operation by changing the temperature of the bulb.
