Advanced solution for large diameters in sewage infrastructure
The VPC XXL DN1070-1120MM flexible coupling is a professional component for connecting large nominal diameter sewage pipes. The product enables a secure and leak-proof connection of pipes made from various materials - from cast iron and stoneware through plastics (PP, PE, PVC) to concrete and GRP composites. The design was specifically developed for external diameters in the range of 1070-1120mm, forming part of the larger VPC XXL family of solutions covering a range from 1090mm to 2820mm.
Sealing sleeve construction and materials
The heart of the system is an adjustable sealing collar made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard. The sealing sleeve features a multiple double sealing profile that meets the requirements of PN-EN 1610. The construction also includes a centrally aligning positioning basket made of high-impact and crack-resistant plastic, as well as two stainless steel clamping bands.
The standard version utilizes V2A (1.4301) stainless steel, while the special V4A (1.4404) version provides additional resistance to oils, gasoline, and aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. The material is also resistant to the effects of saline seawater.
Precise reduction and universal compatibility
The system allows for a diameter reduction of up to a maximum of 50mm while maintaining full leak-tightness of the connection. The reduction process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference of the pipe thanks to an articulated middle part that allows for separate reduction on each side of the coupling. The positioning basket and sealing sleeve are designed to prevent the rubber from spreading or wrinkling during diameter adjustment.
The bilateral protrusion guarantees secure guidance of the fastening strap, and the cylindrical contact surface in the sealing area has a minimum width of 60mm on each side. The solution allows for stepless adjustment while ensuring reliable transfer of shear forces in accordance with DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards.
Installation and professional certification
Installation requires the use of a hybrid tensioner system for the largest diameters - the tightening torque is 25Nm and must be controlled with a torque wrench. The integrated hybrid tensioner eliminates the need for a torque angle wrench during assembly.
The product holds DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval for nominal diameters of 100-2000mm and a leak-tightness certificate for an internal water pressure of 2.5 bar (confirmed by the MPA institute). Strength has been tested for shear forces and angular deflection while maintaining full leak-tightness over a period of three months of long-term testing.
The system includes comprehensive transition solutions enabling connections between different types of pipes - from transitions to round concrete pipes to specialized solutions for egg-shaped profiles or pipes with a bell end.
