The VPC XXL DN1370-1420MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting large-diameter sewer pipes with external diameters from 1370 to 1420mm. The product enables secure and effective connection of pipes made from various materials - from traditional cast iron and stoneware, through modern plastics (PP, PE, PVC), to concrete and GRP composites.

Construction and principle of operation

The heart of the system is an adjustable sealing flange made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to the PN EN 681-1 WC/60 standard, which ensures reliable sealing in accordance with PN EN 1610. The design utilizes a centrically positioning plastic centering ring, characterized by high impact strength and resistance to cracking across a wide temperature range.

The system is based on two stainless steel clamping bands, which allow for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials. A key feature is the articulated middle part, which allows for separate reductions to be made on each side of the coupling. The diameter reduction process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference while maintaining a centric position. Selection of construction materials for specific applications: the standard version uses V2A steel (1.4301), while the special oil-resistant version uses V4A steel (1.4404) with increased resistance to corrosion and acids.

Operational advantages and practical benefits

The VPC XXL design eliminates the need for additional compensation rings for diameter differences up to 50mm, which significantly simplifies logistics and installation. The bilateral stepless adjustment system guarantees reliable transfer of shear loads in accordance with DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards.

Particular attention is drawn to the large cylindrical contact surface with a width of 60mm on each side, which ensures even distribution of pressure forces around the entire circumference of the pipe. The double sealing profile system guarantees multi-layer protection against infiltration.

The coupling is characterized by exceptional chemical resistance - the material is resistant to the action of oils and gasoline and is particularly resistant to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. Additionally, it shows resistance to the influence of saline seawater.

Certification and installation requirements

The product is covered by DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval, confirming its high quality parameters and safety of use for nominal diameters up to DN2000. The system maintains a neutral position relative to each other during installation, which prevents the rubber from wrinkling and ensures the dimensional stability of the connection.

For the correct installation of larger models, specialized tools are required - from VPC275, a tangent wrench is used, while the largest VPCXXL sizes are equipped with an innovative hybrid tensioner system allowing installation with a torque of 25Nm.

The coupling is particularly useful for the modernization of existing sewer networks and the construction of new underground infrastructure sections, where the necessity of connecting pipes with different external wall constructions has previously posed a serious technical problem.
