The VPC XXL DN1620-1670MM flexible coupling is a professional component for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters ranging from 1620mm to 1670mm. The product belongs to the VPC XXL series, designed specifically for nominal diameters from 1000mm to 2800mm, enabling secure connections of pipes made from various materials - cast iron, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PVC-U, stoneware, concrete, and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP).

High-quality construction and materials

The core of the construction is an adjustable sealing flange made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard, or in a special NBR version resistant to oils and gasoline. The sealing sleeve features a multiple double sealing profile ensuring reliable tightness in accordance with PN-EN 1610. The centrally aligning positioning basket made of high-impact plastic is characterized by resistance to low and high temperatures and dimensional stability.

The construction is supplemented by two V4A stainless steel clamping bands (material number 1.4404), which belong to grades particularly resistant to corrosion and acids. The hybrid tensioner system allows for even distribution of the clamping force around the entire circumference of the pipe through a contact surface with a minimum width of 60mm on each side. The plastic protective profile prevents the element from collapsing or buckling during installation.

Versatility of connections and practical advantages

The main structural advantage is the ability to reduce the diameter by up to a maximum of 50mm while maintaining the centric position of both elements regardless of either side of the coupling. The reduction process occurs evenly around the entire circumference thanks to a hinged middle part that allows for separate reduction on each side of the sealing sleeve.

The coupling eliminates the need for additional leveling rings when covering large differences in external diameters of pipes made from various materials - smooth, corrugated, or ribbed. The bilateral strap guidance system ensures secure fastening without the risk of wrinkling the rubber while adjusting external diameters.

Operating parameters and certification

The product meets the requirements of the German DIBt institute (DIBt-Zulassung Z-42.5-450) for nominal diameters up to DN2000 and DIN EN 1610 standards regarding the laying of sewage installations, and DIN 4060 for testing resistance to shear forces in non-dimensional bilateral connections.

Tightness has been confirmed by pressure tests up to 2.5 bar of internal water pressure by the MPA institute for all available diameters. The oil-resistant version is characterized by particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in municipal sewage and soils salted with seawater.

Installation requires the use of a torque wrench with a tightening torque of exactly 25 Nm, which must be monitored with a specialized measuring tool to maintain the connection's tightness parameters.
