Universal solution for large sewage diameters

The VPC XXL DN1695-1745MM flexible coupling enables the connection of sewage pipes with large external diameters of 1695-1745mm, made of various materials. The system was specifically developed for corrugated, cast iron, stoneware, and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes, as well as other smooth-walled pipes. The design allows for a maximum reduction of up to 50mm, with the diameter reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference thanks to a hinged middle part that allows for separate reduction on each side of the coupling.

Advanced design and materials

The coupling consists of three main components: an adjustable sealing collar made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to DIN EN 681-1 WC/60, a self-centering positioning basket made of high-impact plastic, and two V2A stainless steel clamping bands (material no. 1.4301) that allow for smooth, separate, and bilateral adjustment of the connected materials.

The sealing sleeve features a multiple double-seal profile ensuring reliable tightness according to DIN EN 1610. A cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60mm on each side guarantees optimal distribution of clamping forces across the entire contact area. A bilateral strap guide channel ensures secure guidance of the fastening elements during installation.

The positioning basket and the sealing sleeve maintain a neutral position relative to each other, eliminating the risk of rubber folding during the adjustment of different external diameters. The alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids.

Material versatility and chemical resistance

The product is designed to operate in extremely difficult environmental conditions. The sealing sleeve is resistant to oils and gasoline, and is particularly resistant to aggressive substances found in sewage and soil. The material also shows resistance to the influence of saline seawater, which expands the range of applications to coastal installations.

Installation and operation

The installation process is simplified thanks to a system of hybrid tensioners factory-mounted for larger sizes in this series. Fastening straps made of stainless alloy steel allow for smooth pressure adjustment without the need for additional installation tools.

The design ensures dimensionless bilateral fit with reliable shear load transfer, which has been confirmed by tests according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. The large cylindrical contact surface of the pipes guarantees uniform stress distribution and long-term stability of the connection.

The coupling meets the requirements of the German technical approval DIBt no. Z-42.5-450 for the nominal range DN100-DN2000 and holds a tightness certificate confirmed by MFPA tests at an internal water pressure of up to 2.5 bar for sizes up to VPC850.
