Flexible coupling VPC XXL DN1740-1790MM for sewage pipes made of various materials (cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, stoneware, concrete, GRP) VPCXXL1790
Advanced solution for large sewage diameters
The VPC XXL DN1740-1790MM flexible coupling is a professional component for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters (1740-1790mm) made of various materials such as cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, vitrified clay, concrete, or GRP. The product belongs to the VPC® XXL series, developed specifically for extra-large nominal diameters in sanitary infrastructure.
Construction and principle of operation
The system consists of three main components: an adjustable sealing collar made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to DIN EN 681-1 WC/60, a self-centering positioning basket made of high-impact plastic, and two stainless steel clamping bands. The design allows for a diameter reduction of up to 50mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference.
The articulated middle part allows for separate reduction to be performed on each side of the coupling. The positioning basket and the sealing gasket maintain a neutral position relative to each other—this key solution prevents the rubber from shifting or wrinkling during diameter adjustment. While tightening the alloy stainless steel fastening straps, the gasket adapts to various external pipe diameters.
Materials and chemical resistance
The alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids—standard V2A (Werkstoff-Nr. 1.4301), and in the oil-resistant version, V4A (Werkstoff-Nr. 1.4404). The sealing gasket in the standard version is made of EPDM, while the special OEL version features an NBR (butadiene rubber) gasket providing resistance to oils and gasoline.
The material is particularly resistant to aggressive substances found in sewage and soil, as well as the influence of saline seawater. The multiple double-sealing profile ensures reliable tightness according to the DIN EN 1610 standard.
Application and practical advantages
The coupling is intended for corrugated, cast iron, vitrified clay, and glass-fiber reinforced plastic pipes, as well as other smooth-walled pipes of the same nominal diameter but different external wall structures. The design allows for continuous adjustment with certain shear load capacities tested according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards.
A key benefit is the ability to cover a large range of diameters without the need for additional compensation rings—one coupling replaces several standard reduction elements. The large cylindrical contact surface (minimum 60mm width on each side) guarantees connection stability while maintaining installation flexibility.
The product has DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval for nominal diameters of 100-2000mm.
