Advanced sewage solution
The VPC XXL flexible coupling DN1795-1845MM is an advanced solution for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters ranging from 1795 to 1845 mm. The product belongs to the VPC XXL series, developed specifically for nominal diameters from 1000 to 2800 mm, enabling secure and leak-proof connections of pipes made from various materials.
System design and components
The system consists of three main interacting elements. The elastomeric sealing sleeve is made of ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) according to PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 or, in a special version, from butadiene rubber (NBR) resistant to oils and gasoline. The sleeve features a multiple double sealing profile ensuring reliable sealing in accordance with PN-EN 1610.
The centric positioning basket, made of high-impact plastic, is characterized by crack resistance and stability across a wide temperature range. Its tapered, deformable middle part, along with two grooves for guiding the band, ensures centric and stepless diameter reduction with a cylindrical alignment of the connected materials.
Two fastening bands made of stainless steel V2A (1.4301) or V4A (1.4404) in the special version allow for bilateral, separate, and smooth diameter adjustment. The hybrid tensioning system allows for installation from a single position with a torque of 25 Nm.
Application and material compatibility
The coupling has been designed for the professional connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter made from different materials – grey cast iron (GGG), polypropylene (PP-MD), high-density polyethylene (PE-HD), PVC-U, glass-fiber reinforced plastics (GFK), ordinary and reinforced stoneware, and circular and bell-end concrete pipes.
The design allows for a reduction of external diameter differences by up to a maximum of 50 mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference. The articulated middle part enables separate reduction on each side of the coupling, independent of the other side.
The system eliminates the need for additional leveling rings thanks to a large contact surface of at least 60 mm on each side. The cylindrical contact surface guarantees an even distribution of compressive forces around the entire circumference of the pipe.
Operating parameters and safety
The product holds DIBt-Zulassung Z-42.5-450 for nominal diameters from 100 to 2000 mm and DIN EN 1610 certificates confirming the tightness of the connections. In the standard configuration, it ensures tightness up to 2.5 bar of internal water pressure, which has been confirmed by the MPA institute.
The special NBR version is characterized by particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil, as well as the influence of saline seawater. V4A steel belongs to the grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids.
The system maintains a neutral position relative to each other during diameter adjustment – the positioning basket and the sealing sleeve do not cause folding or shifting of the rubber during installation. The bilateral band guide channel ensures their secure guidance throughout the entire installation process.
Couplings are manufactured to order upon precise specification of the external diameters of the connected pipes – for the VPCXXL1845 model, the range is exactly 1795-1845 mm.
