Large diameter sewage pipe connection system

The VPC XXL DN1820-1870MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting large-diameter sewage pipes made of various materials. The product belongs to the VPC® XXL series, developed specifically for nominal diameters from 1000mm to 2800mm, offering the possibility of a safe and leak-proof connection for cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, stoneware, concrete, and GRP pipes.

High-quality construction and materials

At the heart of the coupling is an adjustable sealing sleeve made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard, equipped with a multiple double sealing profile ensuring reliable tightness in accordance with PN-EN 1610. The construction also includes a centrically reducible positioning basket made of high-impact plastic, resistant to cracking and the effects of low and high temperatures.

The fastening system is based on two stainless steel bands made of V2A (1.4301) alloy in the standard version or V4A (1.4404) in the special version. For the largest diameters, a hybrid tensioner system is used, which enables installation without the need for a T-handle wrench. The fastening bands are equipped with a snap-lock closure, eliminating the need for welding or brazing.

Advanced technical and installation capabilities

The VPC XXL coupling enables bilateral, separate, and stepless diameter adjustment while maintaining guaranteed resistance to shear forces, tested according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. The design allows for a maximum reduction of up to 50mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference thanks to the articulated middle part that allows for separate reduction on each side.

A large cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60mm on each side ensures even distribution of forces during installation. The system also includes a bilateral band guide channel, which guarantees secure guidance during installation. An internal stop regulates the insertion depth, and the design of the positioning basket and sealing sleeve maintains a neutral position relative to each other, completely eliminating the risk of rubber folding.

Applications and material compatibility

The product was designed for the professional connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter but made of different materials—even those with significantly different outer diameters resulting from different pipe construction types. It is particularly effective for connections between smooth pipes and profiled, corrugated, or ribbed pipes.

The standard version is suitable for typical soil and sewage conditions in domestic and industrial sewage installations. The special NBR version offers particular resistance to oils and gasoline, aggressive substances contained in sewage, and the influence of saline seawater—ideal for gas station areas or North German saline soils.

The coupling eliminates the need for additional spacer rings when covering large differences in outer diameters while maintaining the same nominal diameter. It ensures a leak-proof transition without internal steps and meets tightness requirements for up to 2.5 bar of internal water pressure (confirmed by MPA certificate).
