VPC XXL Flexible Coupling System DN1840-1890MM

The VPC XXL DN1840-1890MM flexible coupling enables effective and secure connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter made of various materials - cast iron, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PVC-U, stoneware, concrete, and glass reinforced plastic (GRP).

Construction and operating mechanism

The system consists of three main components: an adjustable sealing collar made of elastomeric rubber, a self-centering plastic centering cage, and two stainless steel clamping bands. The design allows for a diameter reduction of up to 50 mm while maintaining full connection stability.

The diameter reduction process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference of the pipe thanks to the articulated middle part of the centering cage. The articulated middle part allows for independent diameter reduction on each side of the coupling. The centering cage and sealing sleeve are designed to prevent the rubber from spreading or wrinkling during the adjustment of different diameters.

Materials and chemical resistance

The sealing sleeve is made of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard and features a multiple double sealing profile according to PN-EN 1610. For special requirements, a version made of nitrile rubber (NBR) is available, which is characterized by resistance to oils and gasoline.

Steel elements are available in two variants: standard V2A stainless steel (material number 1.4301) and special V4A stainless steel (material number 1.4404). The alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids, making the product resistant to aggressive substances found in sewage and soil, as well as the influence of saline seawater.

Practical application and operational advantages

The VPC XXL DN1840-1890MM coupling eliminates the need for additional equalizer rings when covering large ranges of external diameters of different pipe types. Double-sided stepless adjustment under shear loads has been tested according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295.

A large cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60 mm on each side ensures uniform distribution of clamping forces around the entire circumference of the pipe during installation. The hybrid tensioner system allows for installation from a single position using a torque of 25 Nm - this parameter must be controlled with a torque wrench to ensure correct tension.

The design requires precise determination of the required external diameters to optimally adapt the system to specific installation needs.
