Universal solution for large sewage diameters
The VPC XXL DN1870-1920MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting large-diameter sewage pipes made of various materials. The product enables a secure and leak-proof connection of cast iron, plastic (PP, PE, PVC), stoneware, concrete, and glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes. The design allows for the connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter but different outer diameters resulting from different construction types.
Advanced design and operating mechanism
The reduction mechanism acts uniformly around the entire circumference of the coupling thanks to a hinged middle part, which allows for separate reduction on each side. The positioning basket and sealing sleeve maintain a neutral position relative to each other, preventing the rubber from sliding apart or wrinkling during the diameter adjustment process. The use of fastening bands made of alloy steel, particularly resistant to corrosion and acids, ensures durable fastening.
The bilateral protrusion guarantees secure band guidance, and the cylindrical contact surface in the sealing area ensures maximum contact area between elements. The double sealing profile creates a multiple barrier against medium penetration, translating into connection reliability over many years of operation.
Materials and chemical resistance
In the standard version, the sealing sleeve is made of ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) according to DIN EN 681-1 WC/60, providing excellent resistance to thermal and chemical aging. The steel elements are made of V2A stainless steel (material no. 1.4301), which is characterized by high resistance to atmospheric corrosion and most acid and base solutions.
The oil-resistant version uses butadiene rubber (NBR) as the sleeve material and V4A steel (material no. 1.4404) for the metal elements. This configuration provides particular resistance to mineral oils, gasoline, and aggressive substances found in industrial wastewater and soil. The material remains stable even when in contact with saline seawater.
Practical applications and installation advantages
The product finds wide application in the modernization of existing sewage networks, where there is often a need to connect new sections to old installations made of different materials. It is particularly useful for CIPP rehabilitation and for creating transitions between systems with different internal geometries.
Easy, fast, and secure installation eliminates the need for complicated adaptation work or the use of additional leveling rings for diameter differences up to 50mm. Bilateral stepless adjustment, while simultaneously ensuring secure transfer of shear loads, guarantees the durability of the connection even under dynamic soil loading conditions.
