The VPC XXL DN1895-1945MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters. The product enables a secure and leak-proof connection of pipes made from various materials - cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, stoneware, concrete, and GRP - even when they differ significantly in external diameters resulting from different construction types.
Construction and operating mechanism
The construction is based on three key elements: an adjustable sealing flange made of elastomeric rubber (EPDM or NBR), a self-centering plastic centering basket, and two stainless steel clamping bands. The mechanism allows for a reduction in diameter differences of up to 50 mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference.
The articulated middle part allows for separate reduction to be performed on each side of the coupling. The centering basket and the sealing cuff maintain a neutral position relative to each other, which prevents the rubber from shifting or wrinkling during adjustment. The stainless steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids.
Material properties and chemical resistance
The sealing cuff material exhibits high resistance to oils and gasoline, as well as particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. Additionally, the material is resistant to the effects of saline seawater, which expands the range of applications to installations exposed to salt water.
The standard version utilizes EPDM rubber with V2A steel (1.4301), while the oil-resistant version uses NBR rubber with V4A steel (1.4404) for even greater chemical resistance.
Design and practical advantages
The bilateral protrusion ensures secure guidance of the fastening strap, and the cylindrical contact surface in the sealing area guarantees a large contact area between the pipes. The double sealing profile provides multiple redundancy of the seal.
The solution is characterized by easy, fast, and secure installation thanks to its compact design with a stable shape. At the same time, it maintains the flexibility necessary to compensate for dimensional differences between the connected elements.
