Innovative solution for large sewer diameters

The VPC XXL DN1945-1995MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for the secure connection of sewer pipes with large external diameters ranging from 1945 to 1995mm. The product belongs to the VPC® XXL series, designed specifically for extra-large nominal diameters, and enables the effective connection of pipes made from various materials – from cast iron and concrete through plastics (PP, PE, PVC) to stoneware and GRP.

The design is based on an adjustable sealing sleeve made of elastomer rubber according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard and a centrally reducible positioning ring made of high-impact plastic. Two V4A stainless steel straps provide bilateral, separate, and stepless diameter adjustment while maintaining the full tightness of the connection.

Advanced design and materials

The sealing sleeve is made of ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) or, in the oil-resistant version – from NBR (nitrile rubber), which guarantees resistance to oils and gasoline, as well as particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. The material is also resistant to the effects of saline seawater.

The positioning ring features a conically deformable middle part and two strap guide grooves placed symmetrically on both sides. This design ensures centric and stepless diameter adjustment with a cylindrical alignment of the connected materials. The diameter reduction process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference, and the articulated middle part allows for separate reduction to be performed on each side of the coupling.

A key design feature is maintaining a neutral position between the ring and the sealing sleeve during diameter adjustment – this eliminates the risk of the rubber sliding apart or wrinkling. The multiple double sealing profile forms the basis of a professional, tight, and secure pipe connection.

Practical advantages and versatility of application

The VPC® XXL coupling eliminates the need for additional compensation rings when covering large ranges of external diameter differences – the maximum reduction is only 50 mm. Bilateral stepless adjustment with reliable shear load transfer has been tested according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards.

The large cylindrical contact surface guarantees uniform force distribution during tightening around the entire circumference of the pipe. The integrated hybrid tensioner system enables installation without the need for a tensioning wrench – the tensioning of the fastening rings is performed from a single position with a torque of 25 Nm.

It is of particular value during underground infrastructure modernizations, where there is often a need to connect pipes of the same nominal diameter but significantly different wall thicknesses or external surface structures.

Regulatory compliance and operating parameters

The coupling has the DIBt technical approval Z-42.5-450, confirming its high performance parameters and safety of use. Tightness has been tested up to an internal water pressure of 2.5 bar by the MFPA institute – the certificate covers all available diameters.

The design meets the requirements of the PN-EN 1610 standard regarding the installation of sewerage networks and ensures resistance to shear forces according to DIN 4060/DIN EN 295. The plastic protective profile ensures the dimensional stability of the element and prevents the coupling from collapsing or buckling during installation, even with such large dimensions.
