Flexible Pipe Coupling VPC XXL DN1995-2045MM
The VPC XXL DN1995-2045MM flexible coupling is a flexible pipe coupling for connecting sewage pipes with external diameters ranging from 1995mm to 2045mm, with a maximum reduction of 50mm.
The coupling is used to connect pipes made of various materials - cast iron, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PVC, vitrified clay, concrete, or glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). The design allows for the connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter but differing external diameters resulting from different design types.
Materials and component construction
The heart of the system is an adjustable sealing flange made of elastomeric rubber. In the standard version, ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) is used according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard. For applications in environments with aggressive substances, a special version made of butadiene nitrile rubber (NBR) is available, which is resistant to oils and gasoline.
The self-centering positioning basket made of high-impact plastic is characterized by resistance to both low and high temperatures. Its tapered middle part and the grooves located on both sides for guiding the straps enable centric and stepless diameter adjustment with a cylindrical alignment of the connected materials.
Two stainless steel clamping bands allow for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment. In the standard version, the steel components are made of V2A steel (material number 1.4301), while the special version made of V4A steel (material number 1.4404) provides increased resistance to corrosion and acids.
Technical parameters and design
A multiple double sealing profile with a width of 380mm forms the basis of a tight pipe connection. The insertion depth is 190mm on each side, ensuring the contact surface.
The bilateral channel used for positioning the clamping bands guarantees their secure guidance during assembly. The cylindrical contact surface in the sealing area has a minimum width of 60mm on each side, allowing for even distribution of force during tightening around the entire circumference of the pipe.
The hybrid tensioner system eliminates the need for a tangential wrench when installing large couplings. Tightening the fastening rings can be performed from a single position with a torque of 25Nm, which should be controlled with a torque wrench.
Applications and practical advantages
The VPC XXL coupling is particularly useful for the renovation of existing sewage networks and the construction of new underground infrastructure sections. It enables the connection of pipes with different characteristics - for example, a transition between an SN4 PVC-U pipe and a profiled pipe, or between an SN8 PVC-U pipe and a vitrified clay pipe.
The design provides a centric limiter regulating the insertion depth and bilateral stepless adaptation with guaranteed resistance to shear forces in accordance with DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. The diameter reduction process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference, with the articulated middle part allowing for separate reduction on each side of the coupling.
The positioning basket and the sealing sleeve maintain a neutral position relative to each other during assembly, effectively preventing the rubber from spreading or wrinkling. The solution covers a wide range of diameters without the need for additional leveling rings - one coupling can handle various installation scenarios.
The tightness of the system has been confirmed by internal pressure tests up to 2.5 bar by the MPA institute for all diameters. The product has DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval for nominal diameters from DN100 to DN2000.
The availability of a wide range of adapters enables the creation of transitions between different types of pipes - VPC KB adapters allow for the compensation of significant wall thickness differences between concrete and plastic pipes for ranges from DN250 to DN800.
