Application and compatibility

The flexible coupling VPCXXL2195_0030 has been specifically developed for large nominal diameters, enabling the secure connection of sewage pipes made from various materials. The design allows for the effective connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter but made of different materials – even with significantly different outer diameters resulting from different pipe construction types. It is particularly valued in the underground construction industry during the renovation and repair of existing sewage systems, where a mixture of materials is often encountered on private properties.

The coupling eliminates the need for additional compensation rings for outer diameter differences up to 50mm, which significantly simplifies the installation process and reduces storage costs.

Construction and materials

The construction is based on three main components: an elastomeric sealing sleeve, a plastic centric positioning basket, and two stainless steel tightening bands. The sleeve is made of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) according to PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 or NBR in the oil-resistant version.

The positioning basket is made of high-impact plastic resistant to cracking and the effects of low and high temperatures. Its cone-shaped deformable middle part, along with the band guide grooves, ensures centric and stepless diameter adjustment with a cylindrical alignment of the connected elements.

The tightening bands are made of V4A steel (material number 1.4404), which belongs to the grades particularly resistant to corrosion and acids. The special NBR version provides resistance to oils and gasoline, as well as particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil.

The hybrid tensioning system enables installation without the need for a torque wrench – the tightening of the fastening rings is performed in a single position with a torque of 25 Nm.

Technical advantages and installation

The multiple double sealing profile forms the basis of a professional, leak-proof, and secure pipe connection. The cylindrical contact surface ensures an even distribution of pressure forces around the entire circumference of the pipe.

The bilateral band guide channel guarantees secure guidance during installation. The positioning basket and the sealing sleeve maintain a neutral position relative to each other during diameter adjustment, eliminating the risk of rubber folding or shifting.

Installation proceeds steplessly on both sides of the coupling with guaranteed resistance to shear forces in accordance with DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. Tightness is confirmed by tests up to an internal pressure of 2.5 bar.
