Innovative solution for large diameters in sewerage

The VPC XXL DN2320-2370MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters from 2320mm to 2370mm. The product belongs to the VPC® XXL series, developed specifically for extra-large nominal diameters from 1000mm to 2800mm, enabling secure and durable connections of pipes made from various materials.

Construction and principle of operation

The coupling consists of an adjustable sealing collar made of EPDM/NBR elastomeric rubber, a self-centering positioning basket made of plastic, and two stainless steel clamping bands. The design allows for a diameter reduction of up to ≤50mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference.

The articulated middle section allows for separate reduction to be performed on each side of the coupling. The positioning basket and sealing sleeve are designed to prevent the rubber from spreading or wrinkling during diameter adjustment. The hybrid tensioner system eliminates the need for a tangential tensioner during installation.

The V4A (1.4404) alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids. The sealing sleeve made of nitrile rubber (NBR) provides resistance to oils and gasoline, as well as particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. The material is also resistant to the effects of saline seawater.

The double sealing profile with a width of 380mm (insertion depth of 190mm per side) forms the basis of a professional, leak-proof, and secure pipe connection. The cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60mm per side ensures even distribution of clamping forces.

Application and compatibility

The coupling is intended for corrugated, cast iron, stoneware, and glass-fiber reinforced plastic pipes, as well as other smooth-walled pipes. It enables the effective connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter but made of different materials – even with very different external diameters resulting from different pipe construction types.

The product holds DIBt-Zulassung Z-42.5-450 for nominal diameters 100-2000 and meets the requirements of DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. Installation requires the use of a torque wrench with a torque of 25 Nm, controlled throughout the entire installation process.

The design allows for two-sided, stepless adjustment with certain shear load transfer capabilities without the need for additional leveling rings. The large cylindrical pipe contact surface ensures connection stability even with large differences in external diameters between materials.

The fastening system utilizes a dual-sided strap guide channel for secure guidance of the fastening elements and ensures easy, fast, and reliable installation thanks to a compact design with a stable shape that maintains a neutral position of all internal components relative to each other.
