Professional solution for large diameters in sewage infrastructure

The VPC XXL DN2500-2550MM flexible coupling belongs to the Funke VPC® coupling family, which enables secure and leak-proof connections of pipes made from various materials - from traditional cast iron and stoneware to modern plastics such as PP, PE, or PVC.

Construction and principle of operation

The heart of the system is an adjustable sealing flange made of NBR elastomeric rubber, which provides resistance to oils, gasoline, and aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. The sealing sleeve works in conjunction with a concentrically self-centering plastic centering basket, which acts as a guide during the diameter reduction process.

Two stainless steel clamping bands allow for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials. The design allows for a reduction of up to 50mm, with the reduction process occurring evenly around the entire circumference of the pipe. The articulated middle section allows reductions to be performed independently on each side.

Material versatility and compatibility

The range of compatibility includes all popular piping materials: cast iron (GGG), polypropylene (PP-MD), polyethylene (PE-HD), PVC-U, glass-fiber reinforced plastics (GFK), stoneware according to DIN EN 295 standards, and concrete according to DIN EN 19850.

Particular attention has been paid to differences in pipe wall construction - the product performs well with both smooth-walled pipes as well as profiled or corrugated pipes. The contact surface area is a minimum of 60mm wide on each side, guaranteeing a stable distribution of compressive forces.

Operating parameters and safety

The system has undergone rigorous leak testing according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. For smaller sizes, additional tests were conducted under increased water pressure up to 2,5 bar (MFPA tests).

DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval confirms the safety of use for the nominal range from DN100 to DN2000. The oil-resistant version utilizes V4A steel (1.4404) and an NBR sleeve according to the PN EN 681-1 WH standard.

The assembly process requires the use of a torque wrench with a torque of 25 Nm, ensuring optimal clamping without the risk of damaging the rubber structure of the sealing sleeve.
