The VPC XXL DN2525-2575MM flexible coupling is a professional component for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters of 2525-2575mm, made of various materials such as cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, vitrified clay, concrete, or GRP. The design allows for a maximum reduction of up to 50mm, enabling seamless fitting of pipes with different wall thicknesses resulting from the construction type.
The system consists of an adjustable sealing collar made of elastomeric rubber, which works in conjunction with a self-centering plastic centering basket. Two stainless steel clamping bands allow for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials. The articulated middle part of the structure allows for separate reduction on each side of the coupling, guaranteeing precise fit even with significant dimensional differences.
Construction and operating mechanism
The diameter reduction mechanism occurs uniformly around the entire circumference of the pipe, eliminating the risk of weak contact points. The centering basket and the sealing collar are designed so that during the fitting process, they prevent the rubber from sliding apart or wrinkling, which is crucial for maintaining the tightness of the connection.
The alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids, ensuring long-term functionality in aggressive sewage environments. The sealing collar together with the centering basket form a compact but flexible unit with a stable shape, which maintains its properties throughout its service life.
Chemical properties and resistance
The sealing collar material exhibits exceptional resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. The standard version is resistant to oils and gasoline due to the use of NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber), while a special V4A steel version provides additional corrosion protection.
The construction remains stable even when in contact with saline seawater, which expands the range of possible applications to marine or coastal installations. The multiple double sealing profile ensures reliable protection against medium penetration and the transfer of dynamic loads.
Practical applications and operational advantages
The system enables bilateral stepless adjustment with certain shear load transfer according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. The large cylindrical contact surface (60mm on each side) guarantees uniform distribution of clamping forces and minimizes the risk of local overloading of the pipe structure.
The coupling eliminates the need for additional leveling rings when covering large diameter ranges, which simplifies warehouse logistics and reduces investment costs. The design supports both the repair of existing installations and the construction of new sections of the sewage network in difficult terrain or during complex transitions between materials.
