The VPC® XXL DN2620-2670MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting large-diameter sewerage pipes with external diameters of 2620-2670mm, made from various materials such as cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, stoneware, concrete, or GRP. The product belongs to the VPC® XXL series, specifically designed for extra-large nominal diameters from 1000mm to 2800mm, offering a maximum reduction of up to 50mm.

Construction and principle of operation

The innovative design is based on an adjustable sealing flange made of high-quality EPDM elastomeric rubber according to PN-EN 681-1 WC/60. This element features a multiple double sealing profile, which ensures reliable tightness in accordance with the PN-EN 1610 standard.

The central element is a self-centering centering basket made of high-impact and crack-resistant plastic. Its conically deformable middle part, along with bilateral guide grooves for the straps, enables centric and stepless diameter reduction. The reduction process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference while maintaining a cylindrical alignment of both mating surfaces.

Two stainless steel clamping bands serve as the drive system for bilateral, separate, and smooth diameter adjustment. For the XXL series, a hybrid tensioner system is used, which allows for installation without the need for a tapered tool. The tightening of the retaining rings is performed with a torque of 25 Nm using a torque wrench.

Materials and chemical resistance

The construction utilizes highest quality materials to ensure long-term functionality in difficult environmental conditions. The standard version contains steel elements made of V2A stainless steel (material number 1.4301), while the special version made of V4A steel (material number 1.4404) is characterized by particular resistance to corrosion and acids.

The sealing sleeve in the oil-resistant version is made of NBR butadiene rubber, making it resistant to the action of oils and gasoline. The material shows particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil, and also maintains stability under the influence of saline seawater.

The centering basket maintains a neutral position relative to the sealing sleeve during the diameter adjustment process, eliminating the risk of rubber folding or displacement. The design ensures uniform pressure distribution around the entire circumference of the pipe thanks to a minimum mating surface width of 60 mm.

Practical advantages and area of application

The product offers a unique possibility of stepless connection of pipes with different external diameters or made of various materials while maintaining the same nominal diameter. It eliminates the need for additional compensation rings when covering large ranges of diameter differences.

The multiple sealing profile with a width of 380 mm (insertion depth of 190 mm on each side) forms the foundation of a professional, tight, and secure pipe connection. The cylindrical mating surface ensures stable contact between elements while simultaneously transferring shear loads.

The hybrid tensioner system allows for installation from a single working position while maintaining full control of the tightening torque. The design ensures uniform pressure distribution even with large component dimensions thanks to protective profiles that maintain dimensional stability during installation.

The coupling meets the requirements of DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards regarding shear load transfer and holds DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval for the nominal range of 100-2000mm. Tightness has been confirmed by tests up to an internal pressure of 2.5 bar, guaranteeing connection reliability even at high operating pressures.
