System VPC XXL for large diameter sewage installations

The VPC XXL DN2720-2770MM flexible coupling is a component of a system for connecting large diameter sewage pipes made of various materials - from cast iron through plastics (PP, PE, PVC) to stoneware, concrete, or GRP. The product belongs to the VPC XXL series developed specifically for extra-large nominal diameters from 1000mm to 2800mm.

Construction and principle of operation

The system consists of an adjustable sealing collar made of elastomeric rubber, a self-centering plastic centering ring, and two stainless steel clamping bands. This three-element construction allows for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials while maintaining full tightness of the connection.

A key feature is the possibility of reduction up to a maximum of ≤50mm, where this process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference. The articulated middle part allows for reductions to be made independently on each side of the coupling. The centering ring and the sealing gasket maintain a neutral position relative to each other, which prevents the rubber from sliding apart or wrinkling during adjustment.

Materials and chemical resistance

In the standard version, the sealing gasket is made of EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) according to the DIN EN 681-1 WC/60 standard. For special requirements, an oil-resistant version made of NBR (Butadiene Rubber) according to PN EN 681-1 WH is available.

Standard steel components are made of V2A (1.4301) stainless steel, while the oil-resistant version is made of V4A (1.4404) steel, which belongs to grades particularly resistant to corrosion and acids. The material is characterized by resistance to oils and gasoline, as well as particular resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil - including saline seawater.

Practical application

The coupling is intended for corrugated, cast iron, stoneware, and glass-fiber reinforced plastic pipes, as well as other smooth-walled pipes. It enables effective and safe connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter but made of different materials - even with very different external diameters resulting from different pipe construction types.

The design provides a bilateral stepless adjustment range with defined shear load capacity, tested according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. The large cylindrical contact surface (60mm width on each side) allows for installation without the need for additional leveling rings for differences up to 50mm.
