A frameless circulation pump for heating and cooling systems

The Grundfos MAGNA3 pump is an advanced device designed for circulating water in heating and cooling systems, both in residential and commercial buildings. Its construction based on frameless technology ensures quiet operation and high reliability. The integrated controller allows for precise adjustment of the pump's performance to the current needs of the installation, which translates into energy savings and user comfort. The pump is particularly recommended for installations with thermostatic valves, where dynamic performance adjustment minimizes noise and improves temperature control.

Functionality and application

MAGNA3 offers a wide range of configuration options, including various performance characteristic curves, allowing for optimal adaptation to the specifics of the installation. Thanks to the built-in communication interfaces (PROFIBUS, RS-485, EtherNet/IP, Modbus RTU, BACnet MS/TP, LON/LONWorks), the pump can be easily integrated with building automation systems (BMS). The AutoAdapt function automatically adjusts the pump's operating parameters to changing hydraulic conditions, ensuring optimal energy efficiency. Additionally, the AutoAdapt PLUS function monitors the system and responds to changes to maintain optimal operating conditions. The pump is equipped with 0-10 V / 2-10 V and 0-20 mA / 4-20 mA interface signals enabling remote control and monitoring of its operation.

Technical characteristics and construction

The MAGNA3 pump with a maximum capacity of 34.17 m³/h and a head of up to 8 meters is powered by a 1.122 kW motor. The pump body made of cast iron GG 25 (GJL-250) ensures durability and corrosion resistance. The impeller made of a material other than stainless steel (details in the manufacturer's documentation) is characterized by high hydraulic efficiency. The degree of protection IPX4 protects the pump against splashing water. The connection length is 450 mm, and the inlet and outlet connections are flanged according to EN 1092-2 (pressure class PN 10). The pump has a different type of switch (details in the manufacturer's documentation). The insulation class is F and the average operating temperature is -10 ... 110 °C. The energy efficiency index (EEI) is 0.17, which indicates the high energy efficiency of the device. The speed of rotation is adjusted steplessly using the built-in controller.
