Automatic power switch with measurement and communication, 4P 1600A HIC492E
Automatic power switch with measurement and communication
The device functions as a full‑size main disconnect, security disconnect, and maintenance disconnect – allowing safe circuit isolation during service, fault conditions, or maintenance. It features an integrated motorized drive that automatically switches power between sources without manual intervention, which is essential for systems requiring uninterrupted power supply.
It is a permanently mounted device, intended for installation in distribution boards. It is not suitable for front, intermediate, or DIN‑rail mounting – its design requires fixed attachment in a properly prepared cabinet. It protects against short‑circuit currents up to 100 kA and can withstand temporary currents up to 78 kA, meeting the requirements of large industrial and commercial installations.
The switch has 4 poles and operates at 380–415 V AC. At 400 V it can safely connect loads with a power rating up to 1053 kW – sufficient for motors, heaters, or HVAC systems. The rating 1250 A at AC-23 indicates it is approved for controlling inductive loads (e.g., motors), and 1600 A at AC-21 confirms its capability with resistive loads.
It includes one normally‑closed auxiliary contact, which can be used to signal the switch position (e.g., “source A active”) in a SCADA system or control panel. No additional auxiliary contacts are provided – the device does not have remote‑control functionality via extra I/O, but communication is possible through external infrastructure (e.g., network modules).
The switch is locked – a mechanism prevents manual operation while the drive is active, avoiding hazardous interventions. IP00 protection class means there is no protection against touch or dust – installation must be in a closed cabinet with an appropriate protection rating.
It is not an emergency stop device (no “STOP” button), but it serves as a safety disconnect – it can be used as an isolation point before service work. As a reversing switch, it allows selection between two power sources (e.g., utility + generator), which is fundamental for ATS (automatic transfer switch) systems.
The built‑in drive operates without additional equipment – there is no option to install it as an add‑on. Cable terminals enable flexible wiring without the need for busbars or terminal blocks.
