Automatic power switch with measurement and communication

The device functions as a full‑feature transfer switch that automatically switches the load between two power sources – e.g., the public grid and a generator – without interruption of power supply. The built‑in motor drive provides fast and reliable switching even at high currents, without the need for manual intervention.

It has an integrated measurement and communication function, allowing real‑time monitoring of circuit parameters and integration with BMS or SCADA systems. It operates as a main disconnect, safety disconnect and maintenance disconnect – thus meeting all safety requirements during maintenance or fault conditions.

Construction and installation

Designed for mounting in distribution panels, it is not suitable for front‑mounting or DIN‑rail installation. It is a permanently fixed device – a permanent installation that does not require additional brackets or frames. Connection of the main contacts is performed with cable clamps, eliminating the need for busbars or rigid conductors – facilitating installation in space‑constrained locations.

The locking mechanism prevents accidental closing during service work – a critical feature for installers working live. The IP00 protection rating means there is no protection against touch or foreign objects – therefore it must be enclosed within a distribution board enclosure. It is not intended for open‑frame mounting.

Capabilities and safety

Rated for operation at 380–415 V AC, it handles a continuous current of 3200 A. It withstands short‑circuit currents up to 78 kA – meaning it is ready for extreme network conditions typical of large industrial or infrastructure facilities. The making capacity at 400 V is 2106 kW – allowing safe connection of large loads such as motors or heaters.

The rated making capacity for AC-23 (motors) is 720 kW – an ideal choice for systems with high inrush currents. It includes two normally‑closed auxiliary contacts – used for position signalling (e.g., “source A active”, “source B active”) or for controlling external alarm circuits.

It is not an emergency switch – it is not intended for immediate load disconnection in emergency situations. Its purpose is smooth transfer between sources, not rapid disconnection.
