Overcurrent circuit breaker – reliable protection for your installation
This three-pole overcurrent circuit breaker from Hager, with a rated current of 40A and C characteristic, is a key element ensuring safety in every electrical installation. It provides effective protection against overloads and short circuits, minimizing the risk of damage to equipment and fires. The design is adapted for flush mounting, and the compact dimensions (3 modules wide) make it easy to integrate with existing distribution boards.
Functionality and technical parameters
The MCN340E circuit breaker has been designed for demanding applications. The C characteristic means that the circuit breaker reacts with a delay to short-term current surges, which is particularly important when connecting devices with motors or other inductive loads – it will not switch off during a brief increase in power consumption during start-up. The rated short-circuit breaking capacity of 6kA (at 400V) guarantees safe disconnection of the circuit in the event of a serious failure. Additionally, it withstands impulse voltage up to 4kV, which increases its resistance to network disturbances.
- Protects the installation against overload, protecting wires and devices.
- Immediately disconnects the circuit in the event of a short circuit, preventing fires and serious failures.
- C characteristic is ideal for circuits with inductive devices (motors, transformers), allowing for momentary exceeding of the rated current without unnecessary switching off.
- Flush mounting allows for aesthetic and discreet installation in walls or other structures.
- Meets strict safety standards, ensuring reliable operation.
Construction and application
The circuit breaker is made of high-quality materials, which guarantees its durability and reliability even in difficult working conditions (ambient temperature from -25°C to 70°C). It is intended for use in AC installations with a voltage of 400V and a frequency of 50/60Hz. The possibility of connecting wires with a cross-section from 1mm² to 35mm² (solid) or 1mm² to 25mm² (stranded) provides flexibility during installation. The IP20 degree of protection protects against finger contact, but does not provide protection against the effects of water or dust – remember to properly protect the distribution board.
