Closing coil 100-130V AC/DC (DC) HWX027H

Closing coil for air circuit breakers

The HWX027H closing coil operates at 100–130 V in both AC and DC systems – no selection between alternating and direct current is required. It is designed exclusively for use with the hw+ series air circuit breakers, including models HW2, HW4, HW6, and HW15. It is not intended for use with overload relays or other types of devices.

It has no switching contacts – it functions solely as a control element for the breaker closing mechanism. Its task is to precisely and reliably activate the closing mechanism upon application of the control voltage. In practice, this means the installer can mount it as an additional control module in systems requiring remote or automatic breaker activation – for example, in building automation systems or emergency power-on systems.

Power consumption is 5 VA in steady-state operation, indicating low load on the control circuit. Maximum power consumption during energization does not exceed 200 VA – a value that remains well within safe limits for typical control circuits.

It is rated for an insulation voltage of 480 V and an impulse voltage of 6000 V – resistant to overvoltages typical in industrial installations. Overvoltage category II confirms its compliance with basic requirements for devices in distribution circuits.

Protection class IP4X ensures protection against solid objects larger than 1 mm – sufficient for installation in distribution cabinets where there is no direct contact with water or dust. It operates within a temperature range of -25°C to +70°C – suitable for both cool technical rooms and hot machinery spaces.

Electrical connection type is "Other" – meaning there are no standard sockets or pins; the coil is mounted directly onto the breaker housing via a specific mechanical and electrical interface designed by Hager. Installation requires strict adherence to the manufacturer's instructions – it cannot be mounted "by eye" or onto another breaker.

It has no contacts – it is not used for switching loads. Its sole function is to activate the breaker closing mechanism. This means: if you have a system with a sensor or controller that must energize the breaker under a specific condition (e.g., network failure, temperature rise), this coil is the component that performs the physical energization.
