Pull‑out air disconnect switch with remote control capability

This device functions as a main, safety and maintenance disconnect – providing three key functions in one unit. It is designed for installation in distribution panels, and its pull‑out construction allows safe circuit isolation without needing access to live parts. Front‑central mounting simplifies integration with existing systems, while optional intermediate mounting offers flexibility in panel layout.

The built‑in motor drive enables remote operation – no manual movement of the mechanism is required. An optional voltage release trigger adds an extra level of control, allowing automatic shutdown on hazardous voltage deviations. It has no auxiliary normally‑closed or normally‑open contacts, but includes four switching contacts – ideal for status signalling (e.g., “disconnected”, “closed”) in automation systems.

Safety and durability in industrial conditions

Rated continuous current 1000 A at 440–690 V enables the device to handle large loads – for example in installations with motors, heaters, or machines with high inrush currents. A short‑time withstand current of 55 kA means it can safely survive extreme short circuits without damage, which is critical in industrial networks where current surges can be very high.

IP2X protection on the front prevents accidental contact with live parts by fingers or tools, though it does not protect against dust or water. This is typical for indoor air disconnect switches where the environment is controlled. A locking mechanism provides a physical block in the “disconnected” position, meeting safety requirements for service work.

Construction and compatibility

The device features a single switching unit with three poles and operates at 50–60 Hz. Insulation voltage is 1000 V and impulse voltage rating is 12 kV, offering an additional safety layer against over‑voltages. It operates over a wide temperature range: –25 °C to +70 °C – suitable for both cool warehouses and hot production halls.

It is not a recloser nor an emergency switch – it is not a “on/off” device for frequent use. It serves as an insulating and protective element, acting as a reference point for service and control. Its primary purpose is not only to disconnect power but also to ensure it cannot be inadvertently re‑energized.
