Sliding air disconnect with remote control capability
This device functions as a main, safety and maintenance disconnect – it is not an emergency stop, so it does not cut power during a fault, but allows safe circuit disconnection manually or remotely. It is designed for installation in distribution panels, and its sliding construction provides easy access to the contacts during service – without having to remove the entire panel.
It has four poles and operates in a voltage range of 440 to 690 V AC, with a maximum continuous current of 1000 A. At 400 V it can handle loads up to 450 kW – sufficient for large motors, pumps or heating systems. During a short‑circuit it withstands a short‑duration current of 55 kA for 1 second, guaranteeing system stability even under extreme loads.
Installation and additional features
It is designed for centrally front‑mounted installation – it does not require side openings in the panel, facilitating integration with existing systems. It is also compatible with intermediate mounting, providing flexibility for installations in confined spaces. The front side protection rating is IP2X – it protects against finger contact but is not sealed; it is unsuitable for humid or dusty environments without an additional enclosure.
The built‑in motor drive enables remote operation – no manual access to the device is required for switching on/off. Additionally, an optional voltage trigger can be added, which automatically disconnects the circuit if voltage drops below a set threshold – useful in installations with critical loads.
Safety and compatibility
It features a locking mechanism that physically secures the disconnect in the “off” position – a key function for service work and meeting safety requirements during maintenance. Four auxiliary changeover contacts allow status signalling (on/off) in the control circuit or on an operator panel. There are no normally closed or normally open auxiliary contacts – all are changeover.
Compliant with IEC 60947-3, meets RoHS and REACH requirements. Operates from -25 °C to +70 °C – suitable for harsh industrial conditions as well as installations in climate‑controlled rooms. The insulation voltage is 1000 V, and the voltage impulse withstand capability is 12 kV – ensuring safety even during surges.
