Stationary Air Circuit Breaker with Latching Mechanism and Built‑in Motorized Drive
Product Codes: PN-EN, 60947-3
Description
Stationary air circuit breaker with latching mechanism and built‑in motorized drive
This device is designed as a permanent, fixed main and safety disconnectors for installation in distribution boards. It serves as an isolation point in circuits with voltages up to 690 V AC and a continuous current rating of 1250 A, making it suitable for large industrial loads where clear and safe circuit isolation is required.
The latching mechanism provides a physical lock in the “off” position, meeting the requirements of a maintenance disconnect – the installer can work on the circuit safely without the risk of accidental re‑closing. The built‑in motorized drive allows remote or automatic opening and closing of the contacts without manual operation – especially useful in automated systems or where access to the device is limited.
It has four auxiliary switching contacts – these are neither make‑nor‑break contacts, so they are not intended for “on/off” status indication, but can be used to control other circuits, e.g., interlock locks or mechanical status signalling. There are no make‑or‑break auxiliary contacts, therefore it cannot be used as a reversal switch or emergency stop.
Connection of the main contacts is performed exclusively by busbar mounting – cable wiring is not possible. The device is intended for front‑mount, central and intermediate installation, but not for 4‑hole panel mounting. The IP2X protection rating on the front provides basic protection against accidental contact with live parts – sufficient for installations in closed panels.
The rated short‑circuit withstand current (Icw) is 55 kA for a 1 s fault duration, meaning the device can endure extreme overloads without damage. It operates in the temperature range –25 °C to +70 °C and at a frequency of 50–60 Hz – ideal for most European installations.
Optionally, a voltage release unit can be added – it is not built‑in – allowing automatic tripping when voltage drops below set thresholds. The motorized drive is already part of the device, so no additional modules are needed for remote control.
There is no emergency‑stop or reversal‑switch function – this is not an automatic overload protective device, but a manually or remotely operated disconnect. Its purpose is isolation and safety, not overload or short‑circuit protection.
Compliant with PN-EN 60947‑3. Insulation voltage Ui = 1000 V, impulse voltage Uimp = 12 kV – confirming its resistance to surges and industrial conditions.
