Stationary air disconnect switch 1600 A 4P – front‑mount, with locking mechanism and motor drive

This device is designed as a permanent main disconnect and a maintenance disconnect in high‑demand switchboards. It is built for operation in systems up to 690 V AC with a continuous current of 1600 A – ideal for protecting large power circuits, e.g., in industrial installations, data centres, or infrastructure facilities.

Installation is carried out front‑centrally, allowing easy access to control elements without opening the entire cabinet. The unit is fixed permanently – there is no retractable option, which provides rigidity and stability under high fault currents. The locking mechanism prevents accidental closing during service work – a key safety feature for personnel.

The built‑in motor drive enables remote operation – the device does not need to be physically touched to turn on or off. This is especially useful in automation systems or where access to the switchgear is limited. An optional voltage trigger adds extra flexibility in protection configuration.

IP2X protection on the front side provides basic protection against contact with live parts – sufficient for controlled environments where access is limited to qualified staff. Main contacts are connected by busbar connection, eliminating the need for wiring and reducing thermal losses and potential failure points.

The rated short‑time withstand current is 55 kA – one of the highest values in the 1600 A class, indicating resistance to extreme fault conditions without damage. Operation is possible in temperatures from –25 °C to +70 °C, making it suitable for both cold warehouses and hot machine rooms.

Four auxiliary switching contacts allow integration with control and signalling systems – e.g., for indicating on/off status or interlock blocking. There are no make‑or‑break contacts – the device does not provide emergency shut‑off or re‑closing functions.

This is a purely isolating disconnect – it does not have overload or overcurrent trip functions. Its purpose is to physically separate the circuit from the power source – both during maintenance and in emergency situations. In this context it serves as a safety disconnect in accordance with PN-EN 60947-3.

Important: it must not be mounted directly on a 4‑hole type panel board. It requires a special supporting structure or mounting frame designed for its dimensions and mounting method.
